Job Description:

Join a respected hospital's Emergency Department in New Haven, Connecticut, as a Registered Nurse working in a 16-bed ED Observation Unit. This specialty assignment focuses on non-admitted observation care, separate from the main ED, providing a unique chance to hone your skills in a specialized setting. You will be scheduled for 12-hour day shifts, covering a 13-week contract, with a workload that typically involves managing an average of 1:6 patient ratios during both day and night shifts. This position requires at least 1.5-2 years of ER experience at a like-sized hospital; certifications such as TNCC, ACLS, and BLS are necessary. Clinicians may be floated within scope to meet unit needs, and there is an option for a flexible block schedule. Some assignments at other campus EDs are possible if requirements are not met at the York Street Campus. Weekend coverage is required every other week, with policies in place for shift call outs and make-up scheduling. This role offers a steady pace of work in a short-term acute care environment with an emphasis on observation services rather than direct patient care.
