Job Description:

This acute care RN contract in Omaha offers an opportunity to work in a busy Medical/Surgical Orthopedic unit with a focus on post-operative cancer interventions, such as prostatectomies and mastectomies. You'll be responsible for managing a patient load in a 32-bed unit, with patient ratios of 1:5, ensuring timely and accurate documentation, and maintaining a patient-centered approach. The role requires proficiency in titrating drips like heparin, lidocaine, and TPN G-tubes, and reading strips on central monitoring systems. Shifts are 12 hours, mainly daytime, with a rotating holiday schedule and every third weekend commitment. While floating is rare, flexibility to assist on other units is appreciated. The environment is fast-paced but rewarding, offering a chance to impact patient recovery directly. Be prepared to demonstrate skills in communication, timely care, and precise documentation—your efforts will be supported by all necessary resources to pass the open-book skills exam during orientation.
