Job Description:

Join a shared MedSurg/Pediatrics unit in Carroll, Iowa, where adults and PEDS share the same care floor and teamwork is the heartbeat of the schedule. In this travel healthcare contract, you’ll work 12-hour nights with a steady rhythm built around a 6-week cyclic schedule, supporting a mix of common MedSurg cases such as CHF, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, and post-surgical recovery (including knee, hip, shoulder, and colon surgeries), while also caring for pediatric patients where RSV is common.

What makes this assignment unique: the unit is a shared MedSurg/Peds space with room to overflow onto the CCU side, no dedicated monitor tech support, and an emphasis on supporting telemetry interpretation (preferred). You’ll also titrate heparin drips as needed. The unit is staffed with nursing assistants, and while typical ratios are 1:4 as a goal, assignments may run up to 1:6 on the night shift depending on census. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and PALS, with 3+ years of MedSurg/Pediatrics experience and 1+ year of travel experience.

You’ll float within the hospital as this is a critical access hospital (CAH), with support needs that may include CCU or OB as staffing demands change. Bring a “show up and help” mindset—engage with unit quality initiatives and be ready to assist where it’s needed most.
