Job Description:

This oncology unit contract offers an engaging opportunity to work on the 7th floor and outpatient areas of a facility in Albany, GA. You will be providing specialized care for patients with acute oncology symptoms such as thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology needs, and end-of-life care. Shifts are 12 hours during the day, with a typical weekly commitment of 48 hours over 17 weeks. Expect to work primarily on the floors with occasional floating to medical acute areas. The unit maintains a patient ratio of approximately 1:5 or 1:6, with EMR documentation using Meditech. You'll work alongside a charge nurse unless unusual circumstances arise and coordinate with about three nurse aides daily. Certification in BLS is required; NIHSS and ONS certifications are preferred for chemo administration. This role offers the chance to hone your oncology expertise in a focused, fast-paced environment while supporting outpatient treatments and inpatient care. A specific unit orientation lasting three days will prepare you for this rewarding assignment.
